Elijah is told by God to go back and show himself unto Ahab the king of Israel. Israel was in serious trouble with the LORD for they forsook God and His commandments and went serving Baal, the god of the Canaanites. 
 
God shut up the heavens for some 3-1/2 years, and the land was in serious trouble, God was about to destroy the prophets of Baal, but sent Elijah back first to show himself to the king.
