1 Timothy 2: 11-15 is THE most hotly debated passage in the Bible today, at least in regard to Women in Ministry and possibly in regards to scholarship in general. It APPEARS to clearly limit women's roles in church ministry but... 
 
Some say this passage shows that women can't be elders. 
Other claim it means they can't even be college teachers or politicians. 
Others say it's just combating ancient hyper-feminism. 
Others say it's been mistranslated, perhaps by misogynists. 
Others claim it is really just fighting against the ancient cult of Artemis. 
Some say it's just about wives and has no application into church ministry. 
Others say Paul's ruling here has no jurisdiction over us today. 
Others say it's just Paul's personal opinion and not an apostolic ruling at all. 
Still others claim a number of other things about this passage, most often seeking to find a newer way to understand it so that it won't limit the roles of women in ministry. 
Today I'm going to go through ALL the debates and demonstrate the sad failure of egalitarian scholarship to reinterpret this passage, as well as provide some proper corrections for many in the patriarchalist camp.

**I don't usually disable the comment section, because I appreciate a diversity of opinions, and welcome them, as long as they're constructive (giving reasons to support your contention). However this is obviously something the Christian community is having a hard time discussing in love as those amongst family. There have been many who oppose this view and are too quick to simply slander and condemn without any scriptural support or explanation of their thought process, and with no consideration or empathy towards others. So I'm sorry that the majority of the immature has ruined it for those of us who consider this a secondary issue, that should've been easily debated respectfully, as amongst brothers and sisters. Those who oppose this view, take time to reflect on your anger, your quarrelsome proclivities, your quickness to condemn others God may have appointed to lead, and consider next time responding in love and gentleness.**

"Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity." 
 
 
I want you to remember that all the Old Testament was written primarily to the nation of Israel, and Israel was under the Law. Even when you come into Christ's earthly ministry, it's really just an extension of the Old Testament program, as Christ came to fulfill the Abrahamic Covenant, the promises He had made to Abraham. 
 
 
So when Jesus came on the scene in the New Testament, Israel was still under the Law, and the temple was still in operation, so everything that Jesus said in His earthly ministry was under the Law of Moses. There was not one word uttered to give us any idea that the Age of Grace would be coming to the Gentiles. (non-Jews) 
 
 
But when Israel continued to reject everything back there in the first 7 chapters of Acts, God finally made a fork in the road, and Israel went into a dispersion that has lasted even to this very day, although she has been coming back to the land for several years now. And then in chapter 9 the Apostle Paul was saved on the road to Damascus, and he was immediately told "that he would be sent far hence to the Gentiles." 
 
 
So ever since we began our study in Romans, we have come all the way through most of these epistles of Paul, and this is really where we have to be as Gentile believers in this Age of Grace to understand what God is saying to us.

I Timothy 6:1a 
 
"Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour,..." 
 
 
Here again, this is something that we have nothing to do with because slavery was part and parcel of the ancient world. As hard as it is to believe, Christianity did not abolish it as quickly as we think they should have. So, slavery was still part and parcel of their economy. But, again Paul admonishes masters as well as the servants to adhere to their Christian principles. So, he wrote, servants if you are under the yoke count your masters worthy of all honour: 
 
 
I Timothy 6:1b-6:2a 
 
"...that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are (what?) brethren;..." 
 
 
Now, the perfect example is, of course, the little letter to Philemon. Because Philemon was a slave master and Onesimus was one of the slaves that had run away. We will probably touch on that in our next few lessons, but all of these various levels of society were still one in Christ. Now reading on in verse 2. 
 
 
I Timothy 6:2b 
 
"...but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort." 
 
 
I have made comment about this before. Why did God sanction slavery in the first place? You want to remember, we are so programmed to our Western culture, that unless you are a student of history you are prone to not realize that all the way up through antiquity, the masses had no education. They had no technical prowess, or anything like that. So the only place they could function would be under the control of peers that were craftsmen and so forth. They couldn't handle it on their own. 
 
 
But, in everything that God ever introduced even though it was good, as He intended it, what did sinful men do with it? Well, they adulterated it. And, instead of masters being benevolent and taking care of their servants, what did they do? They took advantage of them and they abused them and they tortured them, and all these things. That is not God's fault. That's sinful men.

1 Timothy 2:11-15 - The Role of Men and Women in the Church - Part 2

Everything we do at Westside is centred on knowing Jesus and making Jesus known. Christ's great commission is for His disciples to go out and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-19). In Jesus' parable of the Great Banquet (Luke 14), He tells us to go out and compel as many people as possible to come to His Father's banqueting table so that His house may be full. There is no denying that our clear calling as the global church is to make Jesus known to those who don't know Him. But making Jesus known at Westside isn't simply tied into missions and evangelism, for knowing Jesus isn't a one-time act but an ongoing process -- what God begins, He completes (Romans 8:30 and Philippians 1:7). And the fact is, Jesus calls us to disciple-making, not convert--making; but that said, the role of any disciple is calling others to follow Jesus.

God created our world for good and created people in His own image to reflect God's goodness and beauty, love and justice. Yet sin entered the word as the first humans turned away from God. But God would not leave us in that state. Jesus came into our world to show us what God is like, to die for our sins and to rise from the grave.

ReGeneration Church exists to glorify God by cultivating a community of disciples who respond to the Gospel by growing in relationship with Jesus and intervening for Him.

We meet in Scotts Valley, California off of Glen Canyon and then left onto Green Hills Road. We are on the frontage road adjacent to Hwy. 17. But ReGeneration Church is not a location. I'm a Minister, Evangelist, and Apologist of the Word of God and the Gospel of our Lord God Jesus Christ. I am an ex-mystic, occultist, and practitioner of witchcraft. I was into the occult for 16 years. My Lord Jesus Christ saved me by His shed blood, and now I work at exposing the Occult.
Now by the grace of God I preach Salvation by Grace through Faith alone, not of works (James 2 is not for salvation). Also, I preach once saved always saved, you cannot lose your salvation (Ephesians 4:30), otherwise again your belief would be then about works and maintenance of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9/Titus 3:5/Galatians 2:16) and that is against the Word of God (Galatians 1:8-9)

I Timothy 2:12:  What the Role of the Woman Is & Is Not

When you think about the world we all live in, it is easy to get confused , to feel disoriented or even depressed. I know what that's like. But there are really only two ways to live your life - as a victim or a victor. Life is either one disaster after another or its a great big adventure as we experience the Kingdom of God each day. My prayer for you is that you will be able to grow spiritually so you can recognize the grand potential of your relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
