Political commentators would have you believe that something significant happens in the power structure of a nation following an election. If an incumbent is reelected, it solidifies that party’s hold on the reins of power. It’s seen as an endorsement of current policies and leadership tactics. If a challenger is elected, it’s seen as a mandate for sweeping change. 
 
 
Either way, a sizable portion of the voting population will be unhappy with the result. Some will be extremely unhappy. And they’ll look for scapegoats. It’s very easy in our polarized society today, especially in an election year, to view anyone who disagrees with us as our mortal enemy. We cringe at the idea of their having power or influence in the world. But as believers, we should never think of someone who holds a different view from ours or someone who doesn’t have our faith as an enemy. 
 
 
Those aren’t the battles we should be fighting. We don’t take our marching orders from party leaders or media personalities. And the truth is that, after an election, nothing really changes in the power structure of the country. Psalm 22:28 says, “For royal power belongs to the Lord. He rules all the nations” (NLT). These words can’t be amended. Power always belongs to the Lord. He rules the nations. He rules our nation. That’s why we still have hope, no matter what the election results are. 
 
 
It’s not unpatriotic to point out that every nation has a shelf life. The glory of Greece was eclipsed after 268 years. Rome lasted around nine centuries. The United States is 248 years old and counting. Only God knows how many more years this nation will exist. The days of every nation are numbered. Isaiah 40:15 says that “all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket. They are nothing more than dust on the scales” (NLT). 
 
 
Revelation 15:3 says, “Great and marvelous are your works, O Lord God, the Almighty. Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations” (NLT). God is the true King of every nation, and He reigns for eternity. Unlike human leaders, He is sovereign. He will do what He pleases with whomever He chooses, whenever He wishes. Regardless of who wins an election, our responsibility as believers is to do God’s will and to trust Him. He doesn’t want political retribution. (And even if He did, He’s infinitely more capable of dishing it out than we are.) 
 
 
Our sovereign God wants us to reach out to our so-called enemies. He wants us to be lights in their lives. He wants them to see Christ in us. He wants us to share the truth of the gospel with them. He wants us to truly care about their well-being—to embrace an attitude of humility and concern. He wants us to be ambassadors of His love. He wants us to help them experience His forgiveness and grace. He wants us to fill His kingdom with as many people as possible.

1. ‘I understand not’ Lk. 18:34, Jn. 12:16, Act. 1:7, 1Pet. 1:11. What be the end of these things? See on ver. 6; ch. 10:14. Daniel “understood” the main features of the vision as to Antiochns (ch. 10:1, 14), but not as to the times. 1Pet. 1:10–12 refers mainly to Daniel: for it is he who foretells “the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow;” it is he who prophesies “not unto himself, but unto us;” it is he who “enquired and searched diligently, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ in him did signify.” Fausset A. R. 
2. Go thy way…they are closed up. Is. 8:16; 29:11, Rev. 10:4.“Daniel’s desire of knowing more is thus deferred “till the time of the end.” John’s Revelation in part reveals what here is veiled. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried Ps. 51:7, Is. 1:18, Eze. 36:25, 1Cor. 6:11, Tit. 2:14, Heb. 12:10, 1Pet. 1:7, Rev. 3:18, but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand Hos. 14:9, 2Th. 2:10–12, Rev. 9:20–21; 16:11; 22:11; but the wise shall understand ch. 11:33, 35, Ps. 107:43, Pr. 1:5; 2:1–5, Lk. 24:45, Jn. 7:17, 1Cor. 2:10–16, 1Jn. 5:20. There is no need of a fuller explanation as to the time: for when the predictions so far given shall have come to pass, the godly shall be “purified” by the foretold trials, and shall understand that the end is at hand; but the wicked shall not understand, and so shall rush on their own ruin. The “end” is primarily that of Antiochus’s persecution; antitypically, the end of Antichrist’s.” Fausset A. R. 
3. “Three periods of “days” date from the “abomination” (i.e. the blasphemous assumption of deity by the Beast, v. 11; Mt. 24:15; 2 Thes. 2:4): (1) Twelve hundred and sixty days to the destruction of the Beast (Dan. 7:25; 12:7; Rev. 13:5; 19:19, 20). This is also the duration of the great tribulation (cf. Dan. 12:4, note). (2) Dating from the same event is a period of 1290 days, an addition of thirty days (Dan. 12:11). (3) Again forty-five days are added, and with them the promise of verse 12. No account is directly given of that which occupies the interval of seventy-five days between the end of the tribulation and the full blessing of verse 12. It is suggested that the explanation may be found in the prophetic descriptions of the events following the battle of Armageddon (Rev. 16:14; 19:21). The Beast is destroyed, and Gentile world-dominion ended, by the smiting of the “Stone cut out without hands” at the end of the 1260 days, but the scene is, so to speak, filled with the debris of the image which the “wind” must carry away before full blessing comes in (Dan. 2:35).” Scofield C. 15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

Hello, this is the Silver Watchman. 
On this channel, all are welcome to watch. I do my personal best to improve every video, every week. Uploads are once (or more a week depending on scheduling) and happen between Wednesday and Saturday.
