Rehoboam Strengthens Judah 
5 Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem and built strong cities in Judah to defend against attacks. 
6 He repaired the cities of Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa, 
7 Beth Zur, Soco, Adullam, 
8 Gath, Mareshah, Ziph, 
 9 Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah, 
10 Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron. These cities in Judah and Benjamin were made strong. 
11 When Rehoboam made these cities strong, he put commanders in them. He also put supplies of food, oil, and wine in them. 
12 Also, he put shields and spears in every city and made the cities very strong. He kept the peoples and cities of Judah and Benjamin under his control. 
 
13 The priests and the Levites from all over Israel agreed with Rehoboam and joined him. 
14 The Levites left their grasslands and their own fields and came to Judah and Jerusalem. The Levites did this because Jeroboam and his sons refused to let them serve as priests to the Lord. 
 
15 Jeroboam chose his own priests to serve in the high places, where he set up the goat and calf idols he had made. 
16 When the Levites left Israel, the people in all the tribes of Israel who were faithful to the Lord, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their fathers. 
 17 These people made the kingdom of Judah strong, and they supported Solomon’s son Rehoboam for three years. They did this because during that time they lived the way David and Solomon had lived. 
 
Rehoboam’s Family 
18 Rehoboam married Mahalath. Her father was Jerimoth. Her mother was Abihail. Jerimoth was David’s son. Abihail was Eliab’s daughter, and Eliab was Jesse’s son. 
19 Mahalath gave Rehoboam these sons: Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham. 
20 Then Rehoboam married Maacah. Maacah was Absalom’s granddaughter.[a] And Maacah gave Rehoboam these children: Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith. 
21 Rehoboam loved Maacah more that he loved all his other wives and slave women. Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 slave women. He was the father of 28 sons and 60 daughters. 
 
22 Rehoboam chose Abijah to be the leader among his own brothers. He did this because he planned to make Abijah king. 
23 Rehoboam acted wisely and spread all his sons through all the areas of Judah and Benjamin to every strong city. And Rehoboam gave plenty of supplies to his sons. He also looked for wives for them.

13 The priests and Levites from all their districts throughout Israel sided with him. 14 The Levites even abandoned their pasturelands and property and came to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them as priests of the Lord 15 when he appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat and calf idols he had made. 16 Those from every tribe of Israel who set their hearts on seeking the Lord, the God of Israel, followed the Levites to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices to the Lord, the God of their ancestors. 17 They strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam son of Solomon three years, following the ways of David and Solomon during this time. 
 
 Today’s title is “The Tales of Two Kingdoms” 
 
 Israel had their golden days in the reign of David and Solomon. Their military might reached its highest that they defeated enemies all around. Their territory expanded widely in all directions and countless people were added as their subjects. The nation became so rich that they didn’t value silver highly. The chroniclers of the kingdom clearly attribute the prosperity of the kingdom in the reign of David and Solomon to the love and faithfulness of the kings and people to the Lord. Unfortunately, the golden age of Israel didn’t last long. The kingdom became divided soon after Solomon died due to the stubborn folly of the successor Rehoboam. Unlike his predecessors such as David and Solomon, Rehoboam was not mindful of the plight of the people. Jeroboam, who was very ambitious and was eying on the opportunity to rebel against the king, seized the moment. He split the northern tribes from Israel leaving only the tribe of Judah and Benjamin to Rehoboam. Rehoboam tried to reunify the kingdom without success. On the other hand, Jeroboam tried to strengthen the northern kingdom in his own ways. In doing so, he endeavored to establish totally independent religious system from the original system established by David and Solomon with the temple in Jerusalem at the center. He built the new temple and placed goat and calf idols in it. He rejected the Levites and priests installed by the original system. He banned northern people from going to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices to the Lord. All of these changes must have seemed very savvy movements to Jeroboam to solidify his own northern kingdom. Rehoboam couldn’t do anything to stop him. But many Levites in the northern regions and people who sought the Lord took brave actions. They left everything that belonged to them such as pastureland and property and moved to Judah and Jerusalem. For them, nothing matters more than to worship the true God at the true temple. It sets up the temporary revival at the time of Rehoboam. But it didn’t end there. It sets the direction of the two kingdoms. The northern kingdom became a man-centered kingdom, while the southern kingdom remains God-centered despite its ups and downs. In due time, the northern kingdom becomes completely wiped out and ceases to exist while the southern kingdom manages to survive until the time of Jesus. This tale of two kingdoms shows the path of two types of human lives; man-centered and God-centered. Man-centered life no matter prosperous and strong it may look will end up in total wipe-out. God-centered life, no matter how hard and difficult challenges one may go through. Will end up seeing the Messiah. Which path of life are you following?

Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem and built up towns for defence in Judah: Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa, Beth Zur, Soko, Adullam, Gath, Mareshah, Ziph, Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah, Zorah, Aijalon and Hebron. These were fortified cities in Judah and Benjamin. He strengthened their defences and put commanders in them, with supplies of food, olive oil and wine. He put shields and spears in all the cities, and made them very strong. So Judah and Benjamin were his.

Rehoboam’s family 
Rehoboam married Mahalath, who was the daughter of David’s son Jerimoth and of Abihail, the daughter of Jesse’s son Eliab. She bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah and Zaham. Then he married Maakah daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza and Shelomith. Rehoboam loved Maakah daughter of Absalom more than any of his other wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters. 
 
Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maakah as crown prince among his brothers, in order to make him king. He acted wisely, dispersing some of his sons throughout the districts of Judah and Benjamin, and to all the fortified cities. He gave them abundant provisions and took many wives for them.

"Chivalrous" is a person who believes in the "code of Chivalry" - especially when respecting one's foes as humans and only using necessary force to protect and defend those who are defenseless against their oppressors, also having genuine respect for all women as people, not as objects.  Chivalry is a "knightly code" : Respect towards all humanity, to always be brave and fearless about respecting human dignity whether friend or foe.  Chivalry also rightly includes treating all women with dignity and respect, as Laddies; being polite and courteous to them, irrespective of how they behave in kind.  I am a chivalrous person.

I am also a neurologically brain damaged, disabled, and handicapped US Military Veteran; proof of Military Service video is on this channel.  Video games help me rebuild lost functions inside my brain helping to restore every day life independences.  Mostly this channel is to share with my friends, and to keep 'time capsule' memories of my gameplay sessions for me.

In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include—
(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;
(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
