Our attention is turned to the southern kingdom of Israel called Judah. Hezekiah was reigning as king in those days and as we read earlier, Hezekiah was a good king. He trusted in the Lord and brought about a great revival in Israel. He brought reforms that even Solomon had not done. 
 
The northern kingdom of Israel had already been destroyed by Assyria at this point. Israel in the north had been carried away and transported to some far-off place and some other people were brought in to replace them. They inter-married with the few Hebrews who remained and later became known as the Samaritans. 
 
As we studied last week, Assyria almost destroyed Judah in the south as well. Hezekiah, to prepare for the siege, became famous for engineering a tunnel that diverted the brook Gihon to the Pool of Siloam inside Jerusalem. It was 1,777 feet long and 30 feet underground through solid bedrock. 
 
First, Assyria laid siege to Jerusalem and then later Hezekiah received a letter from the king of Assyria warning him not to trust in the God of Israel. But Hezekiah brought that letter to the house of the Lord and laid it out before Him and prayed that God would save them. 
 
God responded by saying, “Because you have prayed to Me about the king of Assyria, I have heard you.” That night an angel of the Lord came through the camp of Assyria and 185,000 soldiers of Assyria died. 
 
Sometime shortly afterwards, Hezekiah became mortally sick. We don't know the exact nature of his illness, but we do know that there was some kind of boil associated with it. Perhaps it was some form of cancer, but we really don't know for certain. Ben Gurion University put out a study of the chemical compounds in figs as a treatment for cutaneous anthrax based on this account in 2 Kings. 
 
The prophet Isaiah came to Hezekiah with a message from the Lord and here the lessons for us begin as well. As we study through this part of Hezekiah's life, there are many spiritual lessons and insights for each one of us.

SET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER (Part 3). 
2 Kings 20: 1-18 
 
 What does it mean to set your house in Order? 
 In most cases if you are told to set your house in order, 
it means something is wrong somewhere. 
 In setting the house in order you remove what is not desired or wanted and you leave in what you feel still have use in your life. 
 
 What Happens After the house is *put in order? 
 
1. What concerns you becomes God's concern, 
And He remembers His covenant with His servants- 
2 Kings 20:6 
 
God added Hezekiah 15 years, delivered him and the entire city from the hand of the king of Assyria and defended the city for His own sake and for the sake of His servant David. 
2. Once your heart/ house is set in order, Out of it comes the treasures of life- 
Prov. 4:23 
3. Once your house is in order, you are able to build an ark for escape from destruction. 
In times of trouble like these, 
When God is saying that the world is corrupt and violent; It is Time to Hear the word of God and build an Ark for yourself and escape death- 
Gen. 6:13-14. 
4. When your house is in order, God considers you so special that You are Covered by the blood of Jesus, 
And when the angel of death is passing he doesn't enter your house because it is set in order; 
And the Lord Himself shuts the doors- 
Ex. 12:12-13 
 For 15 years, the door of death was closed. 
No spirit of death came near Hezekiah, No accidents, No heart attack, No poison, No Covid, No witchcraft... 
The guy enjoyed life in full in the land of the living. 
 
 Do you want to enjoy life? 
 Put your house in order, take God's warning seriously. 
 
5. When your house is in order, the Glory of the Lord is restored by the wonders He does in your life. 
 God added Hezekiah bonus years, fought his enemies and the enemies of the city and there was happiness again. 
6. A house set in order brings to fulfillment the promises of God. 
 God told Abraham to walk a righteous life because it was time to bless him with Isaac- 
Gen.17: 1-5. 
 
 Conclusion: 
 
 we are in a corrupt and violent world, build an ark for yourself and escape death. 
 The Lord is patient and is waiting for everyone to enter into the Ark. 
 
 ACCEPT THE LORD JESUS TODAY AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR AND YOU WILL HAVE EVERY LASTING LIFE. 
 
 Prayer responses: 
 
 Let us Take the call for righteousness seriously, 
That the promises of God are fulfilled in our lives. 
 Pray that the Lord shuts the doors of our houses that the enemy shall never access them. 
 May the Blood of Jesus shield us from every plan of the enemy.

Hezekiah’s tunnel is still active today, though so many walk through it that the water is not used for drinking. 
 
First, Assyria laid siege to Jerusalem and then later Hezekiah received a letter from the king of Assyria warning him not to trust in the God of Israel. But Hezekiah brought that letter to the house of the Lord and laid it out before Him and prayed that God would save them. 
 
God responded by saying, “Because you have prayed to Me about the king of Assyria, I have heard you.” That night an angel of the Lord came through the camp of Assyria and 185,000 soldiers of Assyria mysteriously died. 
 
Sometime shortly afterward, Hezekiah became mortally sick. We don't know the exact nature of his illness, but we do know that there was a boil of some type associated with it. Perhaps it was a form of cancer, we don't know for certain. Interestingly, Ben Gurion University studied the chemical compounds in figs as a treatment for cutaneous anthrax based on this account in 2 Kings. 
 
The prophet Isaiah came to Hezekiah with a message from the Lord, “Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.” Here the life lessons and spiritual application begin for us as well. 
 
I. Set Your House in Order 
 
 The message that Isaiah brought to King Hezekiah was that he would die and not live and therefore should set his house in order. 
 
 We use the same phrase today. When someone is facing a terminal illness, sometimes a doctor will say to the patient, “There’s nothing more we can do, you should get your affairs in order.” 
 
 For many people, that means putting together a last will and testament so their family doesn't have to argue about things after they’re gone. 
 
 But is that all there is? If all we leave is something that must be sorted out by a lawyer, I submit that we haven't left much. 
 
 In other words, wouldn’t you want to leave more than money and things? Wouldn’t you want to leave a legacy? A legacy that might mean that your life meant something, and that you made a difference with your life. 
 
Illus – One of the goals I have in mind to leave something for others is to have a complete set of sermons from Genesis to Revelation. It is a life goal. I would also like to write about the life lessons from each book in the bible. 
 
 Many have ‘bucket lists’ of things they would like to do or to experience. I think we should also have a bucket list of things to do for others. 
 
A. Keep your relationships in order 
 Setting your house in order suggests that there are things that remain undone. 
 The scriptures teach clearly that it is good and godly to keep relationships in order. 
Romans 12:18, If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 
 Are there thank you notes to write? Are there people you need to call to let them know how much they mean to you? 
 Are there people you need to call and ask their forgiveness for something you have done? 
 Or maybe you’ve been holding on to hurts and wounds and have allowed bitterness to take root in your heart. 
Hebrews 12:15, See to it that no one come short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many are defiled.

2 Kings 20: 1-17. 
 
 Why set the house in Order? 
 
 In most cases, if you are told to set your house in order it means something is wrong somewhere. 
 Setting your house in order involves yourself identifying the problem or what is wrong, 
Accepting it and therefore committing yourself to correct it. 
 It means preparing your house in a desirable and beautiful way. 
 Organizing the things which are in your house in a way that you can easily find whatsoever you want. 
 In setting the house in order: You remove what is not desired or wanted; and you leave in what you feel still has use in your life. 
 You sweep the house and every chaff is put in Kasasiro (Dust Bin). 
 
1 Cor. 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” 
 
 This simply means that the bodies that we have are not ours, 
We are Caretakers and therefore we are accountable to God on how we keep the houses of God. 
 
 Isaiah 56:7 
"Even those I will bring to My Holy Mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on my Altar. For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the people. 
 This means that your heart belongs to God and that is the reason as to why it is hidden from everybody else. Only God understands it better than even yourself because it is His. 
 
 The owner of any house understands it better than anybody else; 
So, if you are a care taker, you are required to follow instructions on how to keep the owner’s house in order. 
 
 Why set the house in order? 
 
1. Because we are not perfect: 
For example: you can’t wake up one morning and say am not seeing any dirt in the house so I will not sweep and mop. 
Yet when you mop you will be surprised to find out that they was dirt. 
 Meaning every day we are required to cleanse our hearts by Deeping ourselves in the precious cleansing blood of Jesus. 
 
2. Because the owner of the house requires us to keep it in order. 
 
3. We are rewarded for setting the house in order 
 
 How do we keep our houses in order? 
 
1. Daily clean up (at least 2hr and 40 minutes to read the bible and prayer) 
2. Avoid procrastination: 
 Immediately Hezekiah received the message from God, he turned to the wall and prayed. 
3. Shutting the doors of the house (2 Kings 20:12-17). 
 Once our houses are set in order we are supposed to close the doors not to allow in those whose mission is to disorganize and steal. 
 Hezekiah didn’t close his house but rather welcomed the Babylonians and showed them all the treasures in his house and they ended up stealing all of it. 
 Some of you have welcomed the Enemy and showed him all the treasures in your organized houses; And today, you cry because: your marriage, children, money, friends, peace, joy…. have been stolen. 
 
 Conclusion 
 
Keep your organized house Shut, so that the thief will not come in to steal, to kill and to destroy your blessings - John 10:10. 
 
 The devil is a liar, a thief, a killer, a destroyer of lives. Please, guard what you have and if you have lost it in one way or the other, You still have a chance to embrace JESUS the only and only one who gives life and in abundance. 
 
ACCEPT THE LORD JESUS TODAY AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR AND YOU WILL HAVE EVER LASTING LIFE. 
 
 Prayer response 
 
1. Pray for forgiveness, cleansing and restoration 
-Psalms 51:10-12. 
2. Pray that the Lord shuts the doors of our houses that the enemy shall never access them- Revelation 3:7.

Hezekiah’s Illness 
20 In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the LORD says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” 
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, 3 “Remember, LORD, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. 
4 Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the LORD came to him: 5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the LORD. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’” 
7 Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered. 
8 Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the temple of the LORD on the third day from now?” 
9 Isaiah answered, “This is the LORD’s sign to you that the LORD will do what he has promised: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or shall it go back ten steps?” 
10 “It is a simple matter for the shadow to go forward ten steps,” said Hezekiah. “Rather, have it go back ten steps.” 
11 Then the prophet Isaiah called on the LORD, and the LORD made the shadow go back the ten steps it had gone down on the stairway of Ahaz. 
Envoys From Babylon 
12 At that time Marduk-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent Hezekiah letters and a gift, because he had heard of Hezekiah’s illness. 13 Hezekiah received the envoys and showed them all that was in his storehouses—the silver, the gold, the spices and the fine olive oil—his armory and everything found among his treasures. There was nothing in his palace or in all his kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them. 
14 Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked, “What did those men say, and where did they come from?” 
“From a distant land,” Hezekiah replied. “They came from Babylon.” 
15 The prophet asked, “What did they see in your palace?” 
“They saw everything in my palace,” Hezekiah said. “There is nothing among my treasures that I did not show them.” 
16 Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the LORD: 17 The time will surely come when everything in your palace, and all that your predecessors have stored up until this day, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD. 18 And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood who will be born to you, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.” 
19 “The word of the LORD you have spoken is good,” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “Will there not be peace and security in my lifetime?” 
20 As for the other events of Hezekiah’s reign, all his achievements and how he made the pool and the tunnel by which he brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 21 Hezekiah rested with his ancestors. And Manasseh his son succeeded him as king. 
 
The Holy Spirit guides us and the Holy Spirit guides people to us.
