In 1960, Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church was first organized in a small frame building at 3602 Drew Street in the Third Ward area of Houston under the leadership of Reverend Norris Terry.  Reverend Terry resigned as Pastor after four years of service.

• Reverend Willie E. Powell 1964 to 1981
He was instrumental in moving the church from it's original location.

• Reverend Curtis Wallace 1981 to 1990
Under his leadership a larger place of worship was built adjacent to the existing edifice.  The old building was renovated unto classrooms, a spacious cafeteria and a small Chapel.  Reverend Wallace resigned as Pastor in 1990.

• Reverend Terry K. Anderson 1991 to Present
Lilly Grove called Reverend Terry K. Anderson of Eunice, Louisiana to become the fourth Pastor, on December 18, 1990. Reverend Anderson began his tenure as Pastor on the first Sunday in February 1991.

Jesus encountered ten lepers and, but only one returned to give thanks. The other nine took the healing and the healer for granted. Many professing Christians and churchgoers today fail to fully appreciate the greatness of their salvation and their Savior, Jesus. As a result, they take him and his grace for granted. Jesus encountered ten lepers and, but only one returned to give thanks. The other nine took the healing and the healer for granted. Many professing Christians and churchgoers today fail to fully appreciate the greatness of their salvation and their Savior, Jesus. As a result, they take him and his grace for granted. This directly and negatively impacts our worship, peace, and our spiritual growth as believers.

Discipleship of the Heart 
Scripture: Luke 17:1-19

In Luke 17:1-19, Jesus calls his disciples–and us–to have hearts that are growing in four things: vigilance, sincerity, humility, and gratitude. These traits represent a roadmap for cultivating a heart that is truly free. 
 
First, we are called to vigilance, recognizing that temptations to sin are sure to come. We must be alert, stopping sin in its tracks through confession, repentance, and forgiveness. 
 
Secondly, Jesus calls us to sincerity, living with a deep dependence on Him and extending forgiveness to others, just as God, through Christ, has forgiven us. 
 
Thirdly, we are called to humility, serving one another with the understanding that we are all servants of God. Finally, we are called to gratitude, recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God. 
 
None of this comes naturally. It requires a discipleship of the heart, a conscious choice to follow the way of Jesus and cultivate these traits in our lives. As we follow the way of Jesus and learn this heart of vigilance, sincerity, humility, and gratitude, we experience the freedom and transformation that He longs to work in us.
