We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. (II Peter 2:19)
Have you ever heard someone preach about the Morning Star? I never have. It is possible that in days to come we will hear more about the Morning Star. The Morning Star is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Maybe we did not need to know about the Morning Star until now. The worldwide Holocaust is approaching, and the Pentecost experience is not powerful enough to enable us and our loved ones to survive spiritually and stand before the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Peter did not have a New Testament. By the “prophetic message” I believe he was referring to the Voice he heard while on the Mount of Transfiguration, plus the writings of the Hebrew Prophets.
Peter said we should pay attention to these until the Morning Star rises in our heart.
Great. But what in the world is the Morning Star?
May its morning stars become dark; may it wait for daylight in vain and not see the first rays of dawn, (Job 3:9 )
Job was so miserable he was wishing that there had been no light when he was born.
The morning star is associated with the first rays of dawn. It is thought by some to be the planet, Venus. It appears in the east just before sunrise.
That tells us a lot, doesn’t it? We can expect the bright Star, the Lord Jesus Christ, to become prominent just before the coming of the Day of the Lord. To put it simply, just before the Lord Jesus returns in His worldwide appearing, He will rise in the heart of the victorious saints.
