Vengeance is the main idea behind the saying “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”. It means whatever evil someone has done against a person he deserves to do the same to him. While it is the natural tendency of man to take revenge against someone, this is not the will of God.

The Bible teaches that whatever evil deed was done against a Christian, he should in no way take revenge for it. Why? Revenge, even when backed with a sense of justice, often leads to wrath and hatred – two of the things God is not pleased at.

So what’s the solution when something bad is done to someone? God answers in His word that vengeance is His. It is up to God what judgment or punishment He would bring to that person, just not in the time You want. And when God exacts any judgment, it surely is a fair one.
