Will we walk the worldly way that’s infatuated with power and prestige, glitz and glamor, fame and fortune? A way to treasures that will not last?

Or will we walk the Christian way of humility and holiness, rejection and righteousness, persecution and piety? A way that leads to treasures that are everlasting?

Are we willing to follow the Leader? Are we willing to follow our Lord who was despised and rejected – since Day 1?

Let’s not be ashamed of the Gospel (Rom 1:16; Mk 8:38), let’s not be afraid to proclaim God’s word to this ungodly world. Because we know God is in control of the world.

Like Herod, people can try to fight it – but in the end – God’s will will be done.

Let’s allow the Lord to use us as His vessels to reap the spiritual harvest (i.e., those who believe in Jesus Christ and receive eternal life). 
✝???????? 
Though some might plant the seed and some might harvest the crops, we’re all on the same team -- the sole winning team. God's soul-winning team.

Let’s completely and joyfully dedicate ourselves to harvesting. Let’s wholly harvest His holy harvest.

If Christ has not been raised our proclamation is without foundation (1 Cor 15:14). If Jesus did not rise from the dead, the Christian faith is worthless (1 Cor 15:17) 
 
When some were doubting the resurrection of the dead, Paul reminds the members of the church in Corinth that he founded about the facts: 
 
Christ died for our sins -- according to the Scriptures. Christ was buried. Christ was raised on the third day -- according to the Scriptures. 
 
And, Christ appeared to many witnesses: Peter, the Twelve, over 500 at the same time, James (his formerly skeptical half-brother) and Paul (the former persecutor) last of all. 
 
Paul uses both subjective and objective evidence to address their doubts. And after considering the objective historical evidence that modern scholars of all stripes agree upon, the best explanation of the "minimal facts" is that Christ indeed was raised from the dead. 
 
Many reject this not only because this would turn their world(view) upside down, but also because many are prejudiced against miracles. 
 
Yet, if God created this incredibly vast, incredibly complex universe out of nothing, raising one person from the dead is small potatoes. 
 
This world is ever-changing, but the facts of what Christ did on the cross are never changing. On Christ the Solid Rock let's stand; all other ground is sinking sand.

James 1:19-20 Bible Study | "Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak, Slow to Anger"

The lesson was originally on James 1:12-15, but we saved James 1:15 for next time due to time constraints. 
 
Reiterating what was said earlier (James 1:2-4; "Growing Pains"), James writes that those who persevere and remain steadfast through trials will be rewarded by God with the crown of life (i.e., eternal life). 
 
But when we go through trials, we must not deceive ourselves (cf. Jas 1:16) into thinking that God is tempting us (i.e., enticing us to sin). Our wholly good God cannot be tempted to do evil and therefore does not tempt anyone to do evil -- which would be evil! 
 
We must not blame God for our moral shortcomings. Our transgressions spring from our own desire that lures us to sin -- like a fisherman baits and catches a fish. Beware of temptation; don't get hooked!

The One who gives good and perfect gifts is the Father (i.e., Creator) of the heavenly lights (i.e., the sun, moon, stars, etc.). The position of the stars does not determine our destiny; God is sovereign over all. 
 
Though the apparent position of the heavenly lights constantly change like shifting shadows, our faithful Father does not. His love and goodness never changes. There is no "shadow of turning" with Him; Great is His faithfulness. 
 
While our sinful desire conceives and gives birth to sin, which gives birth to death (Jas 1:15), God's desire brings about spiritual new birth -- through the word of truth (i.e., the gospel) (Jas 1:18). A "Divine Delivery". 
 
Our faithful Father gives us new life, so that we might be the firstfruits -- the first installment of all creation that will be redeemed.
