This week, we are picking back up with our sermon series in Esther as we look at Esther 9:1-19,  As we look at this chapter, we are going to think about how Esther and Mordecai were living in an empire where they were surrounded by enemies and, thus, how this story can inform our lives as we live in a world that is increasingly hostile to our faith; we have to know how to face down the attacks of this world and still stand firm on the Truth of the Gospel.  And what our passage today, the final and complete triumph of God’s people over the power and principalities of evil, teaches us is that, when we face attacks from the world, we must remember that God and His power are always present in our lives, we must have confidence in His immovable and unshakeable plan, and, those two things being the case, we must live faithfully.

This week, we continue our series in Esther by looking at the first 18 verses of Esther 2.  it is in this passage that we see Esther's ascension to the queen's throne in Persia; and, as we look at this story, we will see how God is still at work even in the midst of the brokenness surrounding Esther and Mordecai.  Specifically, I think this passage shows us that, in order to be faithful in a broken world, we must trust that God is is providentially working in the midst of, and even through, that brokenness; we must strive to faithfully reconcile our faith with the culture; and we must give ourselves over fully to Christ.

Today we are looking at the story of Jesus calming the storm in Mark 4.  We will be considering what this story tells about Jesus and what it tells us about the importance of having faith in Him.  Also, we will be partaking in communion since this is the first Sunday of the month; so, if you wish to participate in communion, make sure you have something to use for the elements.

This week, we look at 3 important things that characterized Jesus' earthly ministry: close, personal fellowship with the apostles; confronting, and battling, Satan and his evil; and being willing to forsake all else for God's glory and the advancement of His Kingdom.  And, we look at how these three characteristics of Jesus' ministry should be used to shape and inform our own ministries.
