Gospel Project for Students (Luke 4:16-31)

What is "of first importance" in your life?  The Apostle Paul reminds us that the "good news" of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection is the most important message in all of history, which has the power to eternally impact our past, present, and future.

First Importance: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

The Lord has equipped and commissioned all Christians to tell the story of how He saved us, how He forgave us, how He gave us eternal life. It is the good news and Jesus is the only One who can change people for eternity. He died so that we might live. Will you tell your story? Will you share the good news of Jesus Christ?

Jesus, The Evangelist: Luke 13:10 - 14:35

Holiness is an often misunderstood thing. While the holiness of God equates to perfection, among other things; the holiness of people cannot be equated to perfection since we are imperfect and sinful. Understanding the holiness of God shows the way for the holiness of people to make sense. It is all based on the work of God in us, through us, and in spite of us.

Jesus, The Holy One: Luke 5:1-32

Thanking the Lord after He has accomplished something great in your life is appropriate and good...and hindsight is 20/20. This story in the Bible is an example of praising the Lord before His work is accomplished. It is, in essence, thanking the Lord with great faith that He will do a great work. Will you trust the Lord for what has not yet happened in your life? "Faith...the assurance of things hoped for..." (Hebrews 11)

Praise God in Advance Luke 1:39-55

The good news of Jesus can be seen in the writings of Isaiah, hundreds of years before Jesus’ birth. All of the Bible ultimately points to the cross and the satisfaction that can only be found in the One who gave all for us.

The Satisfaction of Christ -- Isaiah 53:11

There is a future with Christ that is amazing. The Bible teaches that we will be reunited with God in the fullest sense. We will be his people and he will be our God...forever! Focus on the truth and the current challenges will not overwhelm. Amen!

Consummation - Isaiah 65:17-25; Revelation 21:1-3

Sin is the result of believing the lies of the evil one. Separation, despair, hopelessness, and general dysfunction are the end result of going against the plans of God. Connection, direction, hope, and a purposeful/functioning life are the result of following God’s plans for you. So…which way will you live? Will you run toward God or away from Him? He is waiting with outstretched arms!

Fall - Genesis 2:15-17; 3

Our world is filled with “look-alikes” in nearly every area of life. Often the imitation product or system is very close to the real thing but upon true inspection or under challenging pressure, the truth always appears. This is also true in Christianity…many give the impression of authenticity but upon closer inspection and pressurized circumstances, the truth is revealed. This message looks at some of the markers of authentic Christianity.

Authentic Christianity - 1 Thessalonians 2:1-16

Leadership is formative. Spiritual leadership has an eternal dimension to it. All Christ followers are leaders in some way. Following Jesus helps others do the same, so stay close to the Great Shepherd of our souls. Amen!

Lasting Leadership - Hebrews 13:17-25

Leadership is formative and Jesus is the greatest leader of all. He is not just a leader…He is the Lord of all! He is all you need, so run to Him and you will not be disappointed.

A Life of Faith - Hebrews 13:7-16

The word of God is active, penetrating, and discerning. It brings judgment and much needed growth, when followed. Read it for life!

The Word Of God - Hebrews 4:11-13

There is a rest in Jesus that perfectly and graciously restores. His rest is an invitation to stop…stop legalism, stop wasting time, stop stressing out, stop living in fear, stop to see the King of Kings and the good plan he has for you. “Be still and know that I am God.” Ps. 46:10

Enter That Rest - Hebrews 4:1-11

A new year and a new opportunity to grow in the grace and knowledge of God. The wisdom and power of God seems foolish to the world that does not know him but the truth will be revealed that the Lord is wiser and more powerful than all the world has to offer. Determine, this year, to know, grow, and go for God! “…that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”

Because of Him... - 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5

Last words are always significant. Jacob used his to speak wisdom, reality, and blessing on his sons. When a person has lived a life connected to the Lord, it is right for them to speak into the next generation. The give and take of the Lord’s work makes all the difference in our broken and needy world.

Joseph (Part 12) - Genesis 49:28-50:14

Every person on the planet has the potential to bless and to curse. Jacob’s final words to his sons gives us a glimpse into the differing and real challenges of life. Real life is real hard, and sometimes real harsh. The Lord allows those who bless and those who curse to live in the same spaces. Which one are you? The greatest life change comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ, the redeemer and restorer.

Joseph (Part 11) - Genesis 49:1-27

When you come to the end of your life, how will it go? If you are old and long on the earth will there be any lasting heritage of your presence? Jacob came to the end and left a great heritage of faithfulness. Learn from his victories and defeats in the school of faith.

Joseph (Part 10) - Genesis 47:27-48:22

God works simply and systematically in our lives. The story of Joseph and the care of his family is a picture of the ordinary aspects of life coming to bear on our walk with God. So look around and know that the Lord is working for your good and for his glory!

Joseph (Part 9) - Genesis 46:31-47:26

The reunion of Jacob with his son, Joseph, is a beautiful illustration of the promise keeping God of the Bible. Jacob did not live to see the fulfillment of God’s promises but he certainly saw them begin to unfold in the lives of his descendants. God always keeps his promises!

Joseph (Part 8) - Genesis 46:1-30

Jacob’s home life is a picture of an unhappy domestic tragedy. The entire story of Genesis 29 and 30 is full of sadness and sinfulness, but the long armed grace and mercy of the holy and merciful God is at work in spite of Jacob’s brokenness. The same God leads His children today. Thanks be to God!
