In 1960, Lilly Grove Missionary Baptist Church was first organized in a small frame building at 3602 Drew Street in the Third Ward area of Houston under the leadership of Reverend Norris Terry.  Reverend Terry resigned as Pastor after four years of service.

• Reverend Willie E. Powell 1964 to 1981
He was instrumental in moving the church from it's original location.

• Reverend Curtis Wallace 1981 to 1990
Under his leadership a larger place of worship was built adjacent to the existing edifice.  The old building was renovated unto classrooms, a spacious cafeteria and a small Chapel.  Reverend Wallace resigned as Pastor in 1990.

• Reverend Terry K. Anderson 1991 to Present
Lilly Grove called Reverend Terry K. Anderson of Eunice, Louisiana to become the fourth Pastor, on December 18, 1990. Reverend Anderson began his tenure as Pastor on the first Sunday in February 1991.

Man’s Wickedness; God calls Noah ( Genesis 6:1-22 ) 
6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 
6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 
6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 
6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 
6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 
6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 
6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. 
6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 
6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 
6:10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 
6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 
6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 
6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 
6:14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 
6:15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 
6:16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. 
6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. 
6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. 
6:19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. 
6:20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. 
6:21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

NUTSHELL: You CAN find favor in the eyes of the Lord and walk faithfully with our God! 
‌Noah had a pattern of behavior that kept him aligned with God’s will and God’s ways. And he found favor and walked faithfully with God. 
 
 
Three Truths about Noah (That need to be true about us!) 
‌Be Different — Be Dependable — Be Devoted 
 
Genesis 6:8 (NIV) But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 
 
 
Genesis 6:9-12 ~ 9 This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 
 
Genesis 4:7 (NIV)~ “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” 
 
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV) 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 
 
Hebrews 11:7 (NIV) 7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. 
 
Matthew 6:33 (NIV) 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 
 
Philippians 2:13–15 (ESV) 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

Genesis 6:13 (NIV) So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. 
 
Genesis 6:14 (NIV) So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. 
 
Genesis 6:15-16 (NIV) 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. 16 Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. 
 
Gen 6:17-18 (NIV) I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. 
 
Genesis 6:19-21 (NIV) 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. 20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. 21 You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.” 
 
2 Corinthians 11:14 (NIV) 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 
 
‌John 8:44b (NIV) [Satan] had no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

We have been cornered by the enemy 5 suffering beatings, imprisonments, uproars, toil, sleeplessness, and starvation. 6 And by the Holy Spirit with purity, understanding, patience, kindness, and sincerest love we have proved ourselves. 7 Now with the voice of truth and power of God—armed on the right and armed on the left with righteousness from God—we continue. 8 Whether respected or loathed, praised or criticized as frauds, yet true, 9 as unknown to this world, and yet well known to God, we serve Him. We are treated as dying and yet we live, as punished and yet we are not executed. 10 Though we are sorrowful, we continually rejoice. As the poorest of the poor, we bring richness to all, and though we have nothing, we possess all things. 
 
1. Noah was Different!

Devotion is intimacy overflowing in action. 
 
Genesis 6:22 (NIV) Noah did everything just as God commanded him. 
 
Instant Obedience — Don’t use prayer (or anything else) as an excuse to put off what you know God has been calling you to do! 
‌Continual Obedience — Honor God in the next thing over a long period of time and it will create God sized results. 
‌Complete Obedience — Don’t quit because it’s hard, isn’t fun anymore, or something else looks more inviting. Have persevering faith!

NUTSHELL: You CAN find favor in the eyes of the Lord and walk faithfully with our God! 
‌Noah had a pattern of behavior that kept him aligned with God’s will and God’s ways. And he found favor and walked faithfully with God.
