For Reading and Meditation:     Acts 15:1-11

Now that we understand what Scripture means by the term "heart" - the core of our being - we ask ourselves another important question: What does our Lord mean when He uses the word "pure"?      John 13:1-38

He is accorded V.I.P. treatment and receives special favors wherever he goes. People regard him with respect and awe because of his rank. This letter to Timothy, the last product of Paul's pen - was written from the prison at Rome. In his desire to encourage the young evangelist, he gave him much counsel - counsel which is as valuable for the Christian today as it was for Timothy.

Paul urged Timothy, "Continue...

There was … a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the...

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? … Faith … , if it does not have works, is dead.By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son … concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead. § Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? … You see then that a man is justified by...
