The Bible is pretty forward when talking about bad things, because God does not want to sugarcoat what’s evil. One of these things is envy. Envy works like this: if someone has something (or someone) and you wish you have it as well, that’s the simplest form of envy.

However, envy does not come alone, it also comes with bitterness and even anger against the person who has done nothing wrong. When envy gets worse, the person who feels it would want the thing (or person) gone just from the other person so they would be ‘equals’ again.

The Bible condemns envy and ranks it even higher than wrath, cruelty, and even anger. “The term who can stand against envy?” means no one can feel envy and be better with it. It is best to surrender this feeling to God, and let Him heal your heart.
