Born in Wisconsin in the early 1950s and accepted by Notre Dame in Fall 1969, he visited that Winter, where his sisters' class-mates told him: "We are f'd-up - we don't know why we are f'd-up, but anyone who comes here will also get f'd-up." Returning home he told his Father, - Class of 43' - Notre Dame was too corrupt and it would be a complete disaster if he accepted. His Dad thought otherwise and ordered him to go in the Fall of 1970. He attended for two years - dropped-out - then return to earn a BA-Languages, yet he was denied a Masters of Theology due to his failure to embrace "critical thinking" in the study of he Bible, works of the Church Fathers and western philosophy. Over the past 40 years, Peter Stanton Helland has studied and taught the Scriptures, even personally taking a 'religious freedom' case to the US Supreme Court in 1998.
